This 9 day/8 night  tour begins in Mexico City on any Tuesday (arrive Monday for optional Teotihuacán tour*) and ends in Mexico or Villahermosa the following Wednesday. 

Begins in Mexico City and ends in either Villahermosa or Mexico City.

Day 01-(MON) ARRIVAL TRANSFER - Welcome at the Mexico City Benito Juarez international airport, transfer to the hotel of your choice and accommodation.

Day 02. (WED) MEXICO CITY - We will start our city tour visiting the cultural and historic downtown district where we will find the National Palace and its beautiful murals, painted by the great muralist Diego Rivera, the constitution square or "Zocalo", the Main Aztec Temple and the Metropolitan Cathedral as well as some of the main avenues. Later, we will visit Chapultepec Park and one of the most important Residential areas of Mexico City, and the "Pink Zone". Return to the hotel and rest of the day free.

Day 03. (THU) MEXICO – PUEBLA - OAXACA - Breakfast. Departure to Puebla “City of Angels” visiting Santa Maria Tonantzintla, temple gorgeously  decorated by indigenous hands. On our arrival to Puebla; Rosario’s Chapel, the Cathedral, the Main Square and the Historical Downtown. Lunch. Continuation to Oaxaca. Arrival and Overnight.

Day 04. (FRI) OAXACA - MONTE ALBAN - MITLA - TULE - Breakfast. During the morning visit to Monte Alban, a great archeological site to behold. Built on a mountain top flattened by the Zapotecs. Where we will find different culture manifestations such as Olmecs, Mixtecs and Zapotecs.The Main Square, the Observatory, Tomb # 7, the Stones of the Dancers.  Later, we will continue on to Mitla, one of the most enigmatic sacred places. The village had a great importance as a burial site. The buildings are decorated with symbolic mosaics. In route we are going to find the Tule Tree,  perhaps one of the biggest living beings in the world. Return to Oaxaca and visit its beautiful city, including the Cathedral, the magnificent Santo Domingo church and Gold museum. Overnight.

Day 05. (SAT) OAXACA – SUMIDERO CANYON - SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS - Breakfast Box lunch. Early morning departure to Tuxtla Gutierrez, capital city of the State of Chiapas. You will enjoy the landscapes of the southern mountains. Transfer by boat to Sumidero Park. Lunch. If time permits, we will walk by the eco-tourist park; enjoy the swimming pool or the “Tyrolese” (optional). Boat ride through the Sumidero Canyon, with 1,000 meters (3,300 feet) at its highest point. Passing through Chiapa de Corzo on our way to San Cristobal de las Casas. Overnight.

Day 06. (SUN) San Cristóbal De Las Casas – Montebello Lakes.  A visit to the beautiful Lagunas de Montebello, a picturesque lake region with more than 50 mineral-laden lakes surrounded by oak and pine forests display remarkable hues that range from turquoise to emerald to violet to blue to deep green.  There are also caves and underground sinkholes to be explored.  Birds and animals abound in the region.  In the afternoon return to San Cristóbal de las Casas for a city tour including:  the Market, the Cathedral and the famous Santo Domingo Church, amongst others.  Overnight in San Cristóbal de las Casas.  (B)

Day 07. (MON) SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS - AGUA AZUL - PALENQUE - Breakfast. Head to Agua Azul waterfalls, to admire their turquoise colored waters. With possibility of swimming. Afterwards we will continue on to Palenque.Dinner and Overnight.

Day 08. (TUE) PALENQUE – VILLAHERMOSA - MEXICO DF - Breakfast. Visit to the archaeological site of Palenque, surrounded by jungle. One of the prime and most important sites of the “Mayan World”. Inside the Pyramid of the Inscriptions, King Pakal's sarcophagus and its fascinating carved gravestone were found. We will view the Sun Temple, the Cross Temple & the Palace. Lunch on your own. Transfer to Villahermosa city airport for flight to Mexico City. Book flight departure after 5 PM. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Overnight. Including the flight ticket back to Mexico City.

Day 09. (WED) México City - Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to take your flight back.

Additional charge for a single passenger traveling alone $ 935

*These prices anticipate accommodations while in Mexico City at either the Hotel Geneve or the Galeria Plaza in the Zona Rosa or at either the Historico Central or Zocalo Central in the downtown area near the Zocalo.  Upgrade accommodations in Mexico City are available at increased prices.

Hotels while on tour are rated from 4 1/2 to 3 1/2 on Trip Advisor.  They are all rated as at least 4 star accommodations under the Mexico hotel rating system.  This category includes hotels that have a high level of service and amenities.  The accommodations guarantee cleanliness with bathrooms cleaned and linens washed and changed daily and services such as hot water and purified drinking water (but we do recommend bottled water).  All hotels have restaurant facilities and most offer at least limited room service hours.  Hotels on tour can be upgraded only on private tours. 

Hotels on route will be confirmed according to the availability.

An optional tour of the Guadalupe Shrine and Teotihuacán is available with this tour.  You would need to come in one day before the start of the selected tour.   You will be met at the airport and taken to your hotel for the evening.  The next day you will visit the Square of the Three Cultures, where the past and the present mix, the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of America; the impressive archaeological zone of Teotihuacán to admire the monumental Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, the temple of  Quetzalpapalotl, the Citadel and the Avenue of the Dead. You will also visit an arts and crafts center tour before being returned to you hotel for the first night of your selected tour.  The cost is $100 to $150 per person, depending on the category of your selected accommodations.

International airfares ARE NOT INCLUDED in any of our tour packages.

PLEASE NOTE - The Mayan Traveler tours are not "day tours" or "seat in bus" tours.  Our tours are quality, escorted tours designed for a minimum of 2 persons.  Upon request we can quote this same tour with "economy" or "Deluxe" accommodations.

ALSO, the prices presented above generally increase during Holiday weekends, Spring break, etc. when travel schedules dictate higher demand.

Occasionally we will schedule "guaranteed departure" tours that anyone (single, doubles or triples) can join.  In those cases these tour prices will not apply.

For groups of 10 persons or more discounted airfares may be available on some packages!
