A great 5 day/4 night expedition through the Caribbean of the ancient Maya. Beginning and ending in Cancun this tour includes the following tours: Playa del Carmen, the fantastic eco/archaeology/folklore show/water park of Xcaret, Tulum, the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, the ancient ruins of Coba and the Punta Laguna Spider Monkey Reserve.

This exceptional cultural experience is specially designed for families and people of all ages. It will take us to some of the most impressive archaeological sites in the Mexican Caribbean. We will enjoy the activities at X-caret, one of the most extraordinary family interactive parks in the world. Our learning adventure will also be a journey through time – from modern Yucatan to the cradle of Mayan civilization – and through Caribbean coast and tropical landscapes.

This family program adventure excursion is designed for people of all ages.

Physically active program; light hiking, 2-4 hours per day on undulating trails; climbing old, uneven steps at some ruins.

Begins and ends in Cancun.

Day 1 - Arrival in Cancun and departure for Tulum. Tour members will be transferred to your selected hotel.  Look forward to a journey through beautifully, unspoiled beaches and magnificent archaeological sites. There will be an evening orientation at the hotel where you will meet the other guests that will join you the rest of the trip. Your tour guide will give a short briefing about the excursion routine. Afterwards, a welcome dinner at the hotel. (D)

Day 2 - X-Caret  After breakfast at the hotel, the tour will head north to the naturalist's paradise of X-caret, a state of the art ecological park designed according to the natural landscape of the region. There will be a full day exploring the different attractions of the park. Tour members will visit the sea life aquarium, swim in the caves, snorkel in the crystal clear waters of The Caribbean, visit the local archaeological site and walk in the paths of the park. The tour will return to the hotel early in the afternoon. A day at X-caret is an experience you'll treasure all your life. Dinner at the hotel for an excellent example of  Mexican cuisine. Day 3 - Tulum, Sian Ka'an  Tulum is one of the few Mayan ceremonial centers constructed at the seashore. The Sian Ka'an Conservation and Biosphere Reserve surrounds the magnificent structures of Tulum. The Castle of Tulum lies on a ridge facing a spectacular view of the Caribbean Sea. Afterwards the tour will head to  Casa Cenote and have lunch at their peaceful and extraordinary restaurant. From here tour members will explore the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, part of The Yucatan Ecosystem,  certainly one of the most beautiful and wild parks in the world.  With luck you'll spot a Toucan Bird or a wild cat.  The tour then returns to the hotel in Tulum in time for dinner. Day 4 - Coba, Punta Laguna  At the Maya site of Cobá the tour will walk along roads constructed over one thousand years ago and reach the different plazas and citadels inside the park. After our explorations, there will be lunch at the Villas Arqueologicas then take the road through the jungle to reach The Punta Laguna Spider Monkey Reserve. Here the tour will admire the hundreds of birds that inhabitant the region. After lunch, we will walk through the Mayan jungle in search of the spider monkey and visit the local religious temples that combine Pagan and Christian rites. The afternoon is free for kayaking, swimming or relaxing. Then the tour departs to Cancun for overnight accommodations.  On this final might of the tour there will be be time to compare notes with your tour companions as you enjoy a farewell dinner at Casa de las Margaritas restaurant (B, L, D)

Day 5 - Depart Cancun  Depending on your flight schedule you may have time today to check on the city's excellent shops. If your flight leaves late, your room will be available until 4 p.m. (B)

PLEASE NOTE - The Mayan Traveler tours are not "day tours" or "seat in bus" tours.  Our tours are quality, escorted tours designed for a minimum of 2 persons.  Upon request we can quote this same tour with "Budget" or "Deluxe" accommodations.

ALSO, the prices presented above generally increase during Holiday weekends, Spring break, etc. when travel schedules dictate higher demand.

Occasionally we will schedule "guaranteed departure" tours that anyone (single, doubles or triples) can join.  In those cases these tour prices will not apply.

Depending on the number of tour participants discounted Continental Airlines airfares may be available on some packages!
