Cycles of the Mayan Calendars
13 B’AQ’TUN

Since the
earliest formative periods of the Maya people spirituality represents one of the
main pillars of their living traditions and way of life. Every one of the more
than twenty actual ethnic groups of Maya presents different characteristics,
almost a proper culture itself. Living in harmony with nature and the elements
is common to all of them. At the beginning of this tour you will be introduced
to this particular world by two conferences. An archaeologist will explain to
you the meaning of Mayan Cycles or the counting of the days, while a spiritual
leader takes you onto a journey into the Maya Cosmovision. These are completely
different ways appreciating their beliefs, but very complementary at the same
time. Each of the sacred places and archaeological sites that you are about to
visit has a special place in Maya Cosmovision. Local spiritual leaders will take
you along on a journey that will allow you to get to know these visions and the
meaning of the different eras of the Mayan World – including the current era,
B’aq’tun, ending on December 21, 2012.

This very special tour includes:
“The Mayan Cycles” and “Mayan Spirituality” introductory conferences by experts,
