A brief (5 day) tour of Guatemala’s Highlands to experience the beautiful markets and towns of today’s Maya plus the splendor of colonial times.

Begins and ends in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

bulletDay 1 - Arrival in Guatemala City. Upon arrival in Guatemala City tour members will be met and transferred to Antigua. Following check in, you will have the remainder of the day at leisure to experience charming Antigua. Overnight at Hotel Posada Don Rodrigo-Antigua.  (D)

bulletDay 2 - Guatemala Highlands. This morning you will make your way to Chichicastenango’s spectacular market. Villages throughout the region to prepare for today’s market. Evening transfer to Panajachel. Overnight at Posada de Don Rodrigo-Panajachel  (B, L, D)

            

bulletDay 3 - Lake Atitlan. Today you will explore the Mayan communities surrounding Lake Atitlan. Several traditional farming villages are set along the Lake’s shores. Points of interest in the area include the quiet village of San Antonio Palopó and the market of Sololá. Street vendors in Sololá come from throughout the area. In the evening return to your hotel. Afternoon transfer to Antigua, visiting en route, the Iximche Archaeological Site.  Overnight at the Hotel Don Rodrigo.  (B, L, D)

   

bulletDay 4 - Antigua. Established by Spanish Conquistadors in 1524, Antigua with its narrow cobblestone streets, tree-shaded parks, and old colonial architecture was Guatemala’s capital city for over two centuries. In the morning you will enjoy a city tour that includes visits to spectacular Palaces, Churches, Convents & Plazas. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at the Posada Don Rodrigo-Antigua.  (B, L, D)

       

bulletDay 5 - Departure from Guatemala City. Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight out of the country. (B)

The order of this tour may be adapted to meet actual market days. Day 1 can be any day of the week, except Sunday.

Price per person double occupancy, based upon minimum 4 persons: $ 945.

Single supplement: $296.

PLEASE NOTE - The Mayan Traveler tours are not "day tours" or "seat in bus" tours.  Our tours (other than Guaranteed Departure tours) are quality, escorted tours designed for a minimum of 4 persons.  We can accommodate smaller groups but the prices quoted on this site will not apply.  For example, if 2 two persons wish to travel we can accommodate but the total charge for the tour will be 1 1/2 times the published price, per person.  In other words, two persons can travel on their own tour but the charge will be as if three were traveling.  In that case the 4 person minimum requirement does not apply.

ALSO, our tours generally begin on the 1st through the 8th of each month.  Large groups or customized tours can begin any day.  Other exceptions would be for Holiday weekends, Spring break, etc. when travel schedules are dictated by the calendar.
